Full mouth restoration in Budapest
Full mouth dental implants in Hungary replace all the teeth in one or both jaws with a fixed bridge on four (All-on-4) or six (All-on-6) implants. In Budapest it usually takes two trips: 2–3 business days for the implants, then 8–10 business days for the final bridge 3–6 months later, with temporary teeth in between.
Full mouth dental implants replace all the teeth in one or both jaws with a fixed bridge that sits on four or six implants. You do not take it out, you brush it like natural teeth, and you can eat what you like again. In Budapest the treatment usually takes two trips: the implants are placed in 2–3 days, and after 3–6 months of healing you return for your final teeth. It starts with a free treatment plan based on your panoramic X-ray.
Full mouth implants are for people who have lost all their teeth in a jaw, or whose remaining teeth are so damaged or loose that they cannot be saved. Many of our patients have worn a removable denture for years. It moves when they eat, it presses on the gums, it needs adhesive, and it covers the palate so food loses its taste. Others still have some teeth, but they are broken, decayed or falling out, and repairing them one by one would cost more than starting again.
If you recognise yourself in either group, a fixed full-arch bridge on implants is usually the solution your dentist will suggest. Whether it is All-on-4 or All-on-6 depends mainly on your jawbone.

Most people who ask about full mouth implants are comparing them with a conventional denture. Here is how the two differ in everyday life.

There is a middle way too: an overdenture that clips onto implants. It is removable, but it no longer slips, and it is often chosen when the bone is too thin for a fixed bridge.
Both are fixed bridges of about 12 teeth on implants, and once fitted they look the same. The difference is the number of implants under the bridge.

We do not quote full mouth treatment from a price list, because no two mouths are the same. Your quote is made from your own X-ray, and you have it in writing before you book a flight.

Two patients can both need “full mouth implants” and receive quite different quotes. These are the main reasons:
Your written quote lists each of these, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Many patients start with one jaw, usually the one that causes the most trouble. A loose lower denture, for example, is often harder to live with than an upper one, because the lower jaw gives it less to hold on to. Others have both jaws treated at once, which means the same two trips instead of four and one healing period instead of two. With both jaws, plan the second visit at the longer end of the 8–10 business days. Your dentist will tell you which makes more sense after looking at your X-ray.

Pink porcelain gum is added when the bone has shrunk, so the teeth do not look too long. Your dentist will show you which types are possible in your case.
If bone grafting or a sinus lift has to be done separately, one extra visit is needed before the implants go in. You will know this from your plan before you book flights.
One practical note: if you come for a consultation first and start treatment more than 30 days later, a new 3D CT scan is needed, as the planning must be based on recent images.
In most cases, yes. After the implants are placed, a temporary bridge or denture is made so you can speak, smile and eat soft food while you heal. In some cases the temporary teeth can be fixed to the implants on the 1st visit, which is called immediate loading. This depends on how stable the implants are when they go in and on the quality of your bone, so your dentist decides it on the day.
The final bridge always comes later. The implants need months to bond with the bone, and fixing the permanent teeth too early could put that at risk.
The bridge is fixed to the implants. No adhesive, no movement, no pressure on the gums.
A fixed bridge does not cover the palate, so you taste your food and feel its temperature. There are no food restrictions once the final teeth are fitted.
The new teeth look natural, and the people around you will not notice that they are implants.
No slipping denture when you talk or laugh.
Implants transmit chewing forces to the bone, which helps prevent further bone loss and supports the shape of the face.
With good cleaning and regular check-ups, a full-arch bridge on implants lasts for many years.
Expect a getting-used-to period. For some patients it is one to two weeks, for others one to two months.
Many people who have worn a denture for a long time have lost jawbone, and some have been told at home that they are not suitable for implants. This is not always the end of the road. All-on-4 was developed for exactly this situation: the angled back implants use the bone that is still there, and in many cases no grafting or sinus lift is needed. Where bone is very limited, an overdenture on an implant bar spreads the chewing forces more evenly. If grafting is the right answer, it adds a visit and a few months of healing. The implants are placed under anaesthesia, so the surgery itself is almost pain-free. Afterwards most patients describe soreness similar to having teeth extracted, and ordinary pain relief is usually enough. If you are anxious, or if several extractions and implants are done at once, sedation or general anaesthesia is available. Mention it when you ask for your plan.

Full mouth treatment is the biggest dental investment most people ever make, and it is where the price difference between Hungary and the US, UK or Ireland matters most. Your written quote shows the full treatment cost, so you can compare it with your quote at home, including two return flights and hotel stays. For patients from Ireland and the UK the flight is two to three hours; from most US cities it is 12–18 hours with a connection.
The clinics in Budapest work with 3D CT scanning and digital planning, and full-arch treatment is one of the procedures they do most often for international patients. Many of the dentists are internationally trained, and treatment under general anaesthesia is available for patients who would otherwise not be able to face major dental work.
Because the treatment is spread over two visits with months of healing in between, most patients take the first trip, go home with temporary teeth, and come back for the final bridge. Some combine the second trip with a few days in the city.

A 3D CT scan comes first, and the dentist confirms your full arch plan at the first consultation. It is not changed unless you agree.

I was planning to get veneers for a number of years and finally decided to get one this year. Of course, Turkey was one of the options but I chose Budapest as it’s closer to Ireland.
